I sat in the wooden barn waiting for my pa to come home with the brand new horse he had promised me for my 18th birthday. I had been waiting for hours for him to come back. At last he came home. I ran up to him, “Where's my horse Pa?” “I'm sorry Abigail,” he said sorrowfully. “The ranch isn't there anymore.” I looked at him, trying to hold back tears. I knew it wasn't his fault. Why was I crying?
That night I set my alarm to go off at 4:00, when nobody was awake. I stared at the ceiling thinking. Thinking. When it seemed like I had just started to drift off to sleep, my alarm went off. I jumped out of bed, slid on my boots, and ran out to the barn, excited for an adventure.
I grabbed a horse and a rope and galloped into the forest. I circled
for hours but found nothing. When I was about to give up and go home, I
saw it. The horse of my dreams. A beautiful horse. A wild horse. I slowly crept up
behind it. Just when I was about to catch it, the stallion looked at me,
with it's deep brown eyes. I stared back, imagining what it would be
like to ride her.
She looked at me nervously and started to back away. “It's okay,” I
told her. I got of my horse and walked towards her with my hand out. She
took another step back and she started to look like she was going to run
away any second. “It's okay,” I told her again. This time she stepped
towards me. I carefully put the rope around her neck, grabbed the other
horse and started to walk back towards home.
I love my horse. Her name is Beauty. No matter what, I will never, ever forget her.
Great story!
